Hi Kate,

Sorry I haven’t been able to reply to you, we had a baby!!!

It was such an amazing experience! I felt so calm and prepared for the labour and the training definitely helped

I’d been getting mild contractions all week, but they would only last an hour or so and fizzle out. On Friday the 9th the contractions were getting more intense, so I had about four baths to help with the pain, but I assumed they would fizzle out like every other day. I rang my mum for a chat and she said I’m half way to Perth to see you. I felt immediately mentally at ease and the contractions continued into the afternoon. Mum arrived and we went to the shop to walk around hoping to encourage the contractions to continue. They definitely did. By the time we got home I jumped in another hot bath, by this time is was 4:30pm. Between 5:00pm-and 6:00pm we timed the contractions and rang into the midwife. Contractions were three mins apart at the start of the hour and two minutes apart by the end of the hour. Between us and the midwife we decided to meet after 6:30 ( I wanted to avoid peak hour traffic). We arrived at the birth Center at 6:50pm and with in a few more contractions our midwife said ‘I think your to jump into the birthing bath’.

I stayed in the bath for almost an hour and a half but she was back to back and the pain was killing me. I asked to have my water broken. So out the bath  and had my waters broken at 8:30pm. I moved back into the birthing room to use a peanut ball to try and turn the babies position.  But with three more contractions Bub was born at 8:50 under the shower on my hands and knees.

Meet baby Zola Ann Glenys woods.

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your help, knowledge, insight and education. You’ll come highly recommended from us.
